Tampa Bay Buccaneers hire Virginia Tech staffer | Virginia Tech Insider

BLACKSBURG – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added Virginia Tech staffer Cody Grimm to its coaching staff, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Grimm spent last season as a quality control assistant on the defensive side of the play after spending two years as a grad assistant.

The Bucs hired Virginia Tech alum Bruce Arians as its new coach on Jan. 8. Grimm will work with the defense and special teams units.

Grimm was a seventh-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2010 out of Virginia Tech. He was a linebacker for the Hokies from 2006-09 under coach Frank Beamer going from a walk-on to first team All-ACC performer as a senior.

The Fairfax native’s father, Russ, was a longtime offensive line coach in the NFL before retiring in 2018. He won three Super Bowls during a Hall of Fame career with the Washington Redskins. He won another Super Bowl as part of the Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff in in 2005.
