Should the Bucs kick the tires on Bruce Irvin?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can use all the pass rush help they can get, and a productive edge player just hit the market.

Bruce Irvin is expected to be released by the Oakland Raiders on Monday, and the Bucs could be among the teams kicking around the idea of adding him to their roster for the second half of the 2018 season.

A former first-round pick out of West Virginia, Irvin has 40 career sacks through 6.5 seasons. Still, at 31 years old, it’s highly likely Irvin’s most effective playing days are in the rear-view mirror.

Even so, outside of Jason Pierre-Paul, the Bucs have had little success getting after the quarterback with consistent edge pressure. Pierre-Paul leads the Bucs with eight sacks, but the rest of the team has only mustered eight of their own. Even in a situational role, Irvin could give the Bucs a much-needed boost on passing downs, which could help a banged-up, inexperienced secondary.

Is Irvin worth a look for the Bucs, or should they stand pat with what they currently have on the roster?
