In his first game back from a thumb injury, wide receiver DeSean Jackson got stepped on in last Sunday’s game and was forced to sit out practice with an injury to his Achilles. Jackson suffered the injury after a long completion from quarterback Jameis Winston where his shoe ended up being ripped off by a defender stepping on his leg. Jackson fought through it but was unable to practice today.
The only other player to sit out Wednesday’s practice for the Buccaneers was defensive end Carl Nassib, who was added to the report this week with a shoulder injury. Nassib has notched 6.5 sacks this season for the Buccaneers and provides the other bookend to defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul’s, helping to collapse the pocket and pressure opposing quarterbacks. Pierre-Paul was limited on Wednesday with both knee and shoulder injuries, while defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was also limited with a shoulder. Right tackle Demar Dotson practiced on a limited basis, as well.
Notable omissions from the Falcons’ practice today were running back Tevin Coleman and veteran wide receiver Julio Jones. Both sat out, with Jones nursing two injuries to his hip and ribs.
