ASHBURN — Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Thursday running back Chris Thompson (rib) will not play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This has been a rough season for Thompson, who will miss his fourth game this year. He missed last Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and has not practiced this week.
Thompson suffered an initial rib injury in Week 5, which kept him out of two straight games. The 28-year-old returned Oct. 28 against the New York Giants — only to suffer another rib injury on the opposite side.
Thompson has 28 catches for 209 yards and has rushed for 113 yards on 26 carries.
Running back Kapri Bibbs has filled in for Thompson in his absence.
