Bucs teammate Mike Evans kept center Ryan Jensen from his first NFL touchdown

TAMPA — Bucs center Ryan Jensen was so close to having his first NFL touchdown in Sunday’s 38-35 loss to the New York Giants, until wide receiver Mike Evans took it away.

“I had it in my hands, and he just tore all my hopes and dreams away,” Jensen said jokingly on Tuesday.

You see, offensive linemen don’t have the opportunity to score very often. And when Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston fumbled into the end zone, both Evans and Jensen pounced on the ball, and Evans came away with it.

Evans is able to score all the time. In fact, no Buccaneers player has found the end zone more often over the past five years than Evans, whose two touchdowns on Sunday gave him 38 since the beginning of 2014.

So, he couldn’t cut a lineman a break?

Jensen posted a tweet on Monday showing both he and Evans wrestling for the ball in the end zone.

Evans responded shortly after, LOL’ing  his way to another touchdown while saying that he didn’t know it was Jensen he was wrestling the football from.

Jensen, speaking during Tuesday’s “Turkey Time with the O-line” event, took it all in stride.

This is the time of the year to be extra thankful anyway, right?

“I’m just glad one of us got on top of it and we got the six points,” Jensen said Tuesday. “Yeah, I’m still hurt a little deep down. But you know, eventually I’ll forgive him.”

If anybody benefited  from Evans’ getting the touchdown, it was his fantasy owners. The score made an already-strong day — he had seven catches, 120 receiving yards and a touchdown catch — a 30-point fantasy day, according to ESPN default formats, ranking Evans as the 10th-best fantasy player overall in Week 11.

So, note to Jensen: Any fantasy football owner who lost to a starting lineup including Evans by six points or less feels your pain.
