Buccaneers place Marcus Williams on IR, re-sign Freddie Martino

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added wide receiver Freddie Martino after cornerback Marcus Williams went on the injured reserve.

The Buccaneers announced a pair of roster moves on Saturday. Tampa Bay placed cornerback Marcus Williams on injured reserve and re-signed a familiar face in wideout Freddie Martino.

Williams played in two games with Tampa Bay this season and recorded three tackles. He was initially brought in to provide depth to a cornerback position littered with injuries. With Brent Grimes back in the fold and the unit looking healthy, it was time to address another area.

With Martino back in the fold, the Bucs are back to six wideouts on the roster. Martino has been with Tampa Bay since 2016. Martino has caught 13 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown in three seasons.

In 2018, Martino has played in three games but hasn’t recorded a catch. Martino has value in special teams and will likely suit up on Sunday to play a role in that capacity.

Bucs injury report: All signs point to O.J. Howard, other vital players suiting up

The Buccaneers Friday injury report brought some positive news for O.J. Howard and other significant contributors.

Despite spraining his MCL just two weeks ago, Howard is on track to play Sunday. After limited participation on Wednesday and Thursday, Howard had full input on Friday.

Beau Allen is also on pace to play this week. After missing the past two games, Allen’s return to the defensive front could be a big boost in the run game.

Next: Buccaneers offense can bury Falcons on Sunday

Jordan Whitehead and Carlton Davis are listed as questionable to play on the report, but none of them missed a day of practice. Things may change before the Bucs Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, but it looks like the secondary should be at full strength.
